I was born in San Diego and raised in Tijuana, with a bi-cultural tendency emerging as an innovative visual artist. My sculptures are characterized by my use of intense colors, reflecting my Mexican roots, these are interpreted in a contemporary form.

I graduated from Universidad Autónoma of Guadalajara, Jalisco; studied the art of mosaic in Ravenna, Venice and Udine in Italy with Appreciation of the Visual Arts at the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes; and Cultural Industries in Tijuana at CONACULTA.

In 2011, I opened Casa Valencia Gallery in Liberty Station – San Diego CA this project focused on bringing forth artists from Baja California to exhibit in the states with a new monthly concept and works. During our six year period, along with my partners, I created the Latin American Art Festival now reaching its fourth year. After gaining so much publicity from Latin American artists – Casa Valencia began to exhibit not only artists from Baja but from all over Latin America. Casa Valencia Gallery closed its doors in Liberty Station in September of 2017. Since then, the Latin American Art Festival has moved the location to San Diego’s, BREAD & SALT located in Barrio Logan. We are awaiting our 4th edition of the now Latin American Art FAIR in October of 2018.

Since these changes took place, I have been able to fully focus on my art and projects through my Casa Valencia Mosaic Art Studio. I am currently executing new commission works and projects around the country.

My art trespasses the border of a typical sculpture and transforms itself from a simple drawing to a life-size piece of work full of color and movement. I use materials such as copper, iron, glass, marble, semiprecious stones, as well as recycled materials.

I have been working in the contemporary and ancient style of Mosaics for over 20 years.

She graduated from Universidad Autónoma of Guadalajara, Jalisco; she studied the art of mosaic in Ravenna, Venice and Udine in Italy; Appreciation of the Visual Arts at the Instituo Nacional de Bellas Artes; and Cultural Industries in Tijuana at CONACULTA.

Aída is one of the finest examples of mosaic art in Mexico. The artwork of Aída Valencia goes beyond organic, modern or classical. Her exhibition “Motus” is a reliable proof of this layout because it is based on the literal movement of the work and as a mirror of a changing contemporary society, so it enjoys great international recognition. The diversity of materials used in her work is what characterizes and differentiates her the most.

“Motus” in IMAC (Instituto Municipal de Arte y Cultura) Tijuana, was her last exhibition where the press was attracted to her work, magazines such as Mosaic Art Now in the international press; El Mexicano y Frontera regional press; and national newspaper Milenio.

She has participated in various exhibitions The Folk Tree Collection Pasadena, California; selected by the Consulate General of Mexico in San Diego, “Arte de México” in Barrio Logan, San Diego, California; Mosaic Group Exhibition in Miami, Florida; celebrating Baja at Mingei International Museum San Diego, California; Art Prize Grand Rapids, Michigan; Gallery 256 in Vía Corporativa Tijuana B.C.; GM Gallery of Puerto Vallarta, to name a few.
